Church Administrator

Wading River Congregational Church is a seeking a Church Administrator to support the mission and ministry of the church. The Church Administrator will be responsible for a wide variety of managerial, clerical, technical and marketing responsibilities. The successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and the ability to work in a church environment, working together and supporting both church staff and volunteers. Familiarity with quickbooks or similar accounting software is preferred.

Church Administrator Description

Purpose:

To support the mission and ministry of the WRCC by managing a wide variety of clerical, technical and marketing responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Office Management:
    • Oversee and manage office equipment, office and janitorial supplies
    • Act as point person for facilities use for members and outside organizations
    • Receive and screen incoming correspondence – calls, emails, Post Office
    • Organize and maintain church records, including serving as secretary and treasurer of Sunday School and other ministries as needed.
    • Maintain files and contracts with outside vendors.
    • Assist pastor in administrative duties as needed.
    • Assist ministry leaders in duties as needed.
  • Marketing/Communications
    • Publish weekly church bulletin & monthly newsletter
    • Assist Pastor in maintaining website, email marketing, social media
  • Bookkeeping – utilizing QuickBooks
    • Accounts Payable and Receivable
    • Assist in the receipt, deposit and disbursement of all church funds (bank accounts, investment and special accounts)
    • Provide year-end tax information for donors and employees
    • Provide financial reports as needed.

 Qualifications:

  • Personal – skilled in collaborating with a wide variety of people, communicating with the love of Christ. Supports the statement of faith and mission of WRCC.
  • Communication Skills – This position requires exceptional communication skills. This person will interact with staff, volunteers, members and the greater community.
  • Administrative – strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Bookkeeping – Experience in QuickBooks a strong plus, cash handling experience a plus.

 Details:                                                                                                               

  • Hours – Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 2pm.
  • Pay – Hourly rate, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
  • Benefits – 5 days paid time off (PTO) after 90 days, 10 days after 1 year.
